More (and More) ALM Writing.

As you well know, I dedicate a blog post to every new issue of Austin Lifestyle Magazine. The latest issue is no different. With each issue, I’ve been writing more and more stories, and this time I have 5 – yes, 5! – stories. I won’t go into detail about each one, but there is one story that is extremely near and dear to my heart.

If you read the blog regularly, you’d know that I have a very personal attachment to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. My Austin training group decided to race in the 2013 Ironman in Arizona, which took place yesterday (by the way – CONGRATS TEAM! I’m so proud of y’all!). Throughout their entire journey, I have just been so, so proud of each and every one of them, and though I didn’t participate myself, I have been cheering them on as much as they could. As part of this month’s issue, I was honored to write a special story about the Ironteam, just in time for their big race. They have done such an amazing thing – physically, mentally and monetarily (the team raised $107,000 for cancer research) – and they deserved to be recognized. If you read no other story in this issue, I encourage you to read this one. You’ll find it on page 48.

Austin Lifestyle Magazine November/December issue

A few other things you’ll learn from my writings in the November issue:

-Have you missed Restaurant Jezebel? Well it’s back, and better than ever (page 20).

-Looking to experience Austin in a different light? New adventure company SherpaLux can help you with that (page 20).

-Sometimes even the manliest guy wants something other than beer to drink. I suggest trying Leprechaun Hard Cider, a new American cider with an old Irish feel (page 20).

-The weather is getting colder out. Do you know the right places to get a warm drink this winter? Our latest Accidental Epicurean breaks it down (page 71).

-Oh, and by the way (if you couldn’t tell by the cover photo), Anthony Bourdain graces the pages of this issue…with some great stories.

As always, I hope you enjoy! If you have any comments, be sure to put them in the comments section below. I’m still a green enough writer that I welcome (and encourage) any and all feedback!
